Site Remediation

Remedial activities were conducted onsite including the removal of over 4,500 SF of concrete slab, excavation of over 1,700 cubic yards of contaminated soil, disposal of over 1,400 tons of contaminated soil, disposal of 1,400 gallons of contaminated water, and the application of oxygen releasing compounds to accelerate the degradation of contaminated soil left under building foundations and structural members.

Environmental Assessment

Completed EA that included structural evaluation of manufacturing plant, collection of environmental historical data related to the areas of concern, and review of applicable environmental regulations. A site-specific health and safety plan was prepared for the site and site assessment activities begun with the horizontal and vertical delineation of soil contamination at three areas of concern, the horizontal and vertical delineation of ground water contamination facility wide. During these tasks, deep and shallow monitoring wells were installed and soil borings were done with the objective of collecting field and analytical samples for analysis. Due to the nature of the suspected petroleum material (light paraffinic petroleum distillate) soil samples were field screened by petro-flag extraction method as well as OVAs for the possible presence of volatile organics.

O&M Free Product Extraction and Monitoring

3E designed, installed and continues to support a passive free product extraction system for light paraffinic petroleum distillates in multiple shallow groundwater wells. Additionally, 3E is performing groundwater sampling for petroleum and chlorinated solvents associated ongoing site investigation efforts.

Clean Air Act Compliance

Completed comprehensive air emission survey and permit analysis for a turbine engine repair facility. CAA compliance program included emission inventory, mass balance computations, regulatory coordination, permitting package development and submittal. These activities were completed from 2000 through 2003.

Industrial Wastewater Compliance

Completed comprehensive industrial wastewater system review, design and permitting for a turbine engine repair facility plating, coating and testing operations and a 1.2 million dollar wastewater treatment facility. Projects have included process system review, wastewater treatment design review, county and federal regulatory coordination, spill containment design and construction and permitting. These activities were completed from 2000 through 2003.
